Nicki Minaj Lights Up the Stage with Erika, Sparking Buzz Around JD Vance’s Comments
NECK-AND-NECK: Nicki Minaj Faces Awkward Moment at AmericaFest
Nicki Minaj experienced an uncomfortable moment on stage during Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest convention over the weekend, where she made remarks that drew significant attention.
The rapper joined Erika Kirk in Phoenix on December 21, 2025, to close out the convention. The two ladies walked onto the stage hand in hand, engaging in a discussion that covered a range of topics including politics and religion.
Minaj, 43, surprised the audience by expressing her admiration for President Donald Trump, describing him as “handsome.” She also controversially referred to Vice President JD Vance as an “assassin.” Following her statement, Minaj appeared to regret her choice of words, covering her mouth in shock before falling silent.

Kirk, 37, graciously reassured Minaj, saying, "Trust me, there’s nothing new under the sun that I have not heard." After a brief pause, Minaj expressed her affection, stating, "I love you." Kirk responded by adding humor, noting, "You have to laugh about it. Truly, I have been called every single thing. And you know what? God is so good."
Erika Kirk became the CEO of Turning Point USA following the tragic assassination of her husband, Charlie Kirk, during an event at Utah Valley University on September 10. He was 31 years old at the time of his death.
The AmericaFest event featured various attractions, including a reproduction of the booth where Charlie Kirk was killed, underscoring the poignant atmosphere surrounding the convention.
Minaj’s presence at the conservative gathering raised eyebrows, yet she has consistently voiced her admiration for Trump in recent months. "I have the utmost respect and admiration for our president," she told Kirk. "I don’t know if he even knows this, but he’s given so many people hope."
Reflecting on her political stance, Minaj mentioned feeling "tired of being pushed around," asserting her determination to stand firm in her beliefs.
Last month, Minaj acknowledged Trump publicly during a speech at the United Nations, where she discussed religious violence in Nigeria. “I would like to thank President Trump for prioritizing this issue and his leadership on the global stage,” she stated, highlighting the need for action to protect religious freedoms. “Music has taken me around the globe. I have seen how people, no matter their language, culture or religion, come alive when they hear a song that touches their soul.”
Minaj’s evolving political engagement continues to spark conversation, highlighting the intersection of celebrity and activism in contemporary discourse.
