Nicki Minaj Joins Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent for a Fun Spin on ‘Beez in the Trap’ Trend
While attending President Donald Trump’s summit to unveil the Trump Accounts program, rapper Nicki Minaj participated in a viral social media trend alongside Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The event, held on February 3, showcased Minaj energetically engaging in the “Beez in the Trap” trend while Bessent remained notably subdued.
In a video shared on the official Trump Accounts profile on X, Minaj and Bessent are seen standing back to back as a mashup of her 2012 hit with 2Chainz and 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up” plays. The trend typically features one person singing along to “What’s Up,” followed by a turn to the second person who raps the “Beez in the Trap” chorus. Minaj embraced her role while dancing and lip-syncing, whereas Bessent stood still, simply nodding along.
The footage also highlights Minaj’s involvement at the summit, where she was seen sitting next to Bessent and later standing on stage with Trump to endorse the savings account initiative. During his remarks, Trump claimed that Minaj had contributed “hundreds of thousands of dollars in Trump Accounts.” Following the event, Minaj showcased the Trump Gold card on social media, a prestigious item priced at $1 million plus a $15,000 DHS processing fee, which accelerates the visa process for its holders.
Minaj has become increasingly engaged in political discourse, recently speaking at a United Nations event to address religious persecution in Nigeria and appearing alongside Erika Kirk at a Turning Point USA conference. In a podcast interview with Katie Miller—during which she also completed the “Beez in the Trap” trend—Minaj explained her motivations for her political activism.
“If I’m being honest, President Trump … when I saw how he was being treated, over and over and over, I just couldn’t handle it,” Minaj expressed in the episode. “I felt that a lot of that bullying and the smear campaigns and all of the lying, I felt that that had been done to me for so many years. And I was watching it in real time happen to someone else, and I didn’t think he deserved it.”
