New Trailer for ‘Wild Horse Nine’: Martin McDonagh’s CIA Adventure Takes a Unique Turn on Easter Island
Searchlight Pictures has unveiled the trailer for Wild Horse Nine, the latest film directed and written by Martin McDonagh. This project marks McDonagh’s return to feature filmmaking following his critically acclaimed work on The Banshees of Inisherin, which garnered nine Academy Award nominations in 2023, including Best Picture, directing, and writing.
Set in the tumultuous period leading up to the 1973 Chilean coup, Wild Horse Nine features John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell as CIA agents Chris and Lee. Dispatched from Santiago by their bureau chief MJ, portrayed by Steve Buscemi, the two partners grapple with their troubled history and current conspiracies. Complicating their mission is Chris’s developing relationship with a group of rebellious students, played by Mariana di Girolamo and Ailín Salas, which threatens to derail their journey to the scenic Easter Island.
The film is set to be released on November 6, 2026, and also stars Tom Waits and Parker Posey.
