Neighbors Come Together to Rescue Family from House Fire on Christmas Day in San Bernardino
Quick Community Response Saves Lives in San Bernardino Home Fire
On Christmas Day, residents of San Bernardino demonstrated remarkable bravery and compassion, aiding in the rescue of individuals and pets from a burning home, as confirmed by fire officials on Thursday.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department reported the fire breakout at approximately 3 p.m. at a residence situated on 7th Street near H Street.
Before firefighters arrived, alert neighbors entered the smoke-filled house and woke a sleeping couple. In an impressive act of kindness, they also rescued the couple’s five dogs, who were unharmed.
When fire crews finally reached the scene, they discovered that the home had been converted into a quadplex, consisting of two units in the front and two additional units in the back. The fire had severely impacted the front units, while the rear units suffered damage primarily from smoke and water.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The couple rescued from the home was subsequently transported to a hospital to treat minor burns and smoke inhalation. Additionally, two nearby residents—a mother and her toddler daughter—were also hospitalized due to smoke inhalation.
