Nancy Gates Becomes Partner at Untitled, Welcomes First Clients After Leaving UTA
Nancy Gates Joins Untitled as Partner Following Departure from UTA
In an official announcement, Nancy Gates, a longtime agent and partner at UTA, has secured a position as a partner at Untitled’s New York office. This transition comes after Gates concluded a three-decade tenure at UTA last month.
Gates brings a roster of talented clients with her to Untitled, including Anna Friel, Cote de Pablo, Jennifer Ehle, Michael J. Fox, Samantha Bee, Sandra Oh, and Wilmer Valderrama, with further additions expected in the near future. Throughout her career at UTA, Gates also represented notable figures such as Alicia Silverstone, Amy Sedaris, Brooke Shields, David Tennant, Emily Watson, Jared Padalecki, Kaitlyn Dever, Kal Penn, Karl Urban, Katie Holmes, Max Greenfield, Patrick Dempsey, and Renée Elise Goldsberry, many of whom have previously transitioned to Untitled for management.
In a joint statement, the Untitled Partners expressed their enthusiasm, stating, “Nancy is someone we’ve known, respected, and shared clients with for many years. She brings extraordinary taste, deep relationships, and the perfect combination of strategic instinct and genuine care for artists. We’re thrilled to formally welcome her as a partner and begin this next chapter together.”
Gates’ journey at UTA began in 1996, shortly after the agency’s inception. She became a partner in 2015 and held several senior leadership roles, including co-running the television talent division for 18 years and overseeing the New York office for a decade after relocating from Los Angeles in 2011.
Reflecting on her new role, Gates remarked, “Thirty years in this business teaches you what great management looks like, and Untitled has always been a company that emulates those characteristics. Their team, their artist relationships, and their overall approach to the work made Untitled an obvious new home. And getting to do this alongside people I’ve known and respected throughout my career makes it that much sweeter.”
Untitled is part of the TPG-backed Initial Group and has been actively enhancing its team with high-profile hires like Gates. The company has also been pursuing acquisitions, including literary-focused management firm Grandview.
