Myron Bolitar Series Coming to Netflix as Harlan Coben and David E. Kelley Join Forces
Netflix Extends Partnership with Harlan Coben, Announces New Series ‘Myron Bolitar’
Netflix has renewed its overall deal with international bestselling author Harlan Coben, marking nearly a decade of collaboration between the two. This renewal coincides with the announcement of Myron Bolitar, a highly anticipated series that adapts Coben’s popular novels centered on the titular character.
The drama will be spearheaded by Emmy winner David E. Kelley, best known for Big Little Lies, along with Kyle Long, recognized for his work on Suits. Both will serve as writers, executive producers, and co-showrunners. The series follows Myron Bolitar, who, after an injury cuts short his NBA aspirations, pivots to becoming a sports agent. Armed with charisma and intellect, he navigates the treacherous waters of the sports industry, often putting his own safety on the line to defend his clients.
Greg Yaitanes, known for directing a significant portion of Kelley’s adaptation of Scott Turow’s Presumed Innocent, will also direct multiple episodes of Myron Bolitar and serve as executive producer, alongside Kelley and Matthew Tinker from David E. Kelley Productions, Coben from Final Twist Productions, and Rick Muirragui from Suits.
The pursuit of a Myron Bolitar series has remained a priority for Netflix, especially following the 2022 deal extension, which added twelve titles to its original agreement, including Coben’s eleven-book Bolitar series and the spin-off novel, Win. Kelley joined the project over a year ago, highlighting its significance for both Netflix and Coben.
"What an honor — not to mention, great fun — it is to partner up at Netflix with legend David E. Kelley and his remarkable team on this exciting new series," said Coben. "The Myron Bolitar books mean a great deal to me, and I’m thrilled to have such a talented and inspired group bringing them to life."
This ongoing partnership between Coben and Netflix has produced numerous successful series, including the 2024 limited series Fool Me Once, which became one of Netflix’s Most Popular English-language series upon release, as well as Safe, The Woods, and Gone for Good. The recent thriller Run Away topped Netflix’s charts during its debut week, and upcoming adaptations include I Will Find You, featuring Sam Worthington.
Jinny Howe, Head of Scripted Series for the U.S. and Canada, expressed appreciation for Coben’s trust in Netflix. "Bringing this story to the screen has been a big priority for us, and we knew that finding the right creative partners was essential," she noted. "This is a major milestone for our partnership, and we look forward to many more years of working together."
With Myron Bolitar, Kelley continues his successful streak with Netflix, following previous series such as Anatomy of a Scandal, A Man in Full, and The Lincoln Lawyer, which is currently in production for its fifth season in Los Angeles.
Kelley’s production company is also working on Apple TV’s upcoming comedy series Margo’s Got Money Troubles and the Emmy-nominated Presumed Innocent, which recently completed its second season. Meanwhile, HBO’s acclaimed series Big Little Lies is preparing for its third season.
Coben is represented by UTA and Gendler Kelly Cunningham, Kelley by CAA and Gendler Kelly Cunningham, Long by WME, TFC Management, and Hansen Jacobson Teller, while Yaitanes and Muirragui are repped by CAA and UTA, respectively.
