MrBeast’s Company Faces Potential Strike Amid Union Negotiations for Season 3 of Beast Games
In a developing situation, MrBeast and his company are in a standoff with the Teamsters union following a recently inked agreement with IATSE for production on Season 3 of Prime Video’s popular show, Beast Games. This impasse arose as negotiations have reportedly stalled, prompting the Teamsters to threaten a strike starting early Friday morning.
This potential strike could halt production on the $10 million competition show, currently filmed in Greenville, North Carolina. Sources indicate the Teamsters view the deadlock as an overreach, escalating tensions as both sides attempt to resolve the conflict.
Beast Games has historically compensated its crew with union-level wages in Seasons 1 and 2, and there were expectations for similar arrangements moving into Season 3 under the umbrella of Beast Industries. The Teamsters aimed to formalize this production as a union program, which has resulted in disputes with the Teamsters’ Local 391 and Local 399.
The situation intensified rapidly, with the Teamsters setting a 6 AM deadline for negotiations, and both sides appear to be navigating a complex landscape reminiscent of recent agreements forged with IATSE.
On May 11, IATSE secured recognition and subsequently reached an agreement with Beast Industries to cover approximately 500 crew members involved in the expansive production of Beast Games. Notably, the agreement extends beyond the third season, although Amazon has yet to approve any additional seasons.
The competition series pits 1,000 contestants against one another in various challenges, with MrBeast serving as co-creator and host. Despite facing legal challenges regarding working conditions on the show, Prime Video has already confirmed a Season 3 renewal following the success of Season 2.
As negotiations continue, both sides remain at an impasse, leaving the future of the production uncertain.
