Moorpark’s Robert Dearborn Named President-Elect of the Southern Section – A Conversation Worth Having
Moorpark Athletic Director Elected President Elect of Southern Section
Moorpark Athletic Director Rob Dearborn has been elected as the president elect of the Southern Section Council. The election took place on Thursday, confirming his role under the newly appointed president, Alexis Barile, who previously served as principal at Corona Centennial. Dearborn will fulfill his duties as president elect during the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years before assuming a two-year term as president.
At 62, Dearborn brings four decades of experience in high school sports, having begun his career at Newbury Park before moving to Moorpark. He also directs the Southern Section track and field championships hosted at Moorpark. His family has a strong connection to athletics; his wife, Denise, competed in track at UCLA.
When asked if he would take a more prominent role at home now that he has received this title, Dearborn humorously responded, “No, I still salute her.”
As president, Dearborn will oversee Southern Section Council meetings. He reflected on the significance of his new position, stating, “I grew up with Southern Section sports that have been a big part of my life. It’s exciting.” His dedication to high school athletics continues, as his son serves as the football coach at Moorpark.
