Minnesota Timberwolves Game Postponed After Tragic Shooting In Minneapolis
The NBA has announced the postponement of the upcoming game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors due to a recent fatal shooting in Minneapolis. Originally slated for Saturday, January 24, the match will now take place on Sunday, January 25, at 4:30 p.m. CT at Target Center, with coverage provided on NBA TV.
In a statement regarding the decision, the Minnesota Timberwolves emphasized that the postponement was made to prioritize the safety and security of the Minneapolis community.
The postponement comes amid ongoing protests in Minnesota against the Trump administration’s policies, particularly the presence of ICE and border patrol agents in the state. Tensions have risen following the release of a viral video depicting a man being fatally shot by ICE agents on Saturday, raising alarm over public safety.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has publicly urged President Trump to withdraw federal agents from the state. “Thank God we have video,” Walz said during a news briefing. “According to DHS, these seven heroic guys… it’s nonsense, people. It’s nonsense, and it’s lies.”
This shooting incident marks a continuing trend of violence related to immigration enforcement, following the recent death of Renee Good and the alarming detainment of a 5-year-old boy by ICE agents amid the administration’s crackdown on immigration.
