Mickey Rourke has expressed concern over a GoFundMe campaign that aimed to help him avoid eviction, stating that $90,000 still needs to be returned to contributors. The actor claimed that over $100,000 was raised during the fundraiser, which he described as a “scam.”
In a series of posts shared on Instagram on January 15, the 73-year-old actor articulated his disappointment, remarking that his attorney was “doing everything in his power” to effectuate the refunds.
“Truthfully, there is still over [$90,000] that needs to be refunded to concerned parties that sent their money,” Rourke stated, urging fans to direct their support instead towards his friend Eric Dane, who is battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

In a subsequent Instagram post, Rourke referred to the GoFundMe initiative as a “vicious cruel goddamn lie,” threatening “severe repercussions” for the individual behind it.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Rourke had been served a notice to pay $59,100 in back rent for his Los Angeles property or face eviction. This led to the establishment of the crowdfunding effort aimed at addressing immediate housing-related expenses.
In a video shared on January 5, Rourke stated he had no prior knowledge of the GoFundMe campaign, expressing frustration and confusion over why it had been initiated on his behalf.

“That’s not me, okay?” he remarked. “If I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for no f—ing charity. I’d rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger,” he added, emphasizing that he didn’t understand the campaign or its necessity.
The campaign was initiated by Liya-Joelle Jones, described as the assistant to Rourke’s manager, Kimberly Hines. Jones stated that it was created with Rourke’s full approval.
In response to Rourke’s recent remarks, Hines reassured that documentation has been provided to ensure the return of all funds to donors. She affirmed her commitment to the actor’s well-being, mentioning her attempts to facilitate his financial and professional opportunities.
Hines has reiterated her belief in Rourke’s talent and the need for him to accept assistance during this challenging period. She stated that his team aims to support him in getting back on his feet and resuming his career.
