Mickey Rourke has surrendered a shotgun to law enforcement amidst ongoing struggles related to a crowdfunding campaign created to assist him during potential eviction from his Los Angeles residence.
According to NBC Los Angeles, deputies from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department visited Rourke’s location on January 7 after a call from one of his team members. During this visit, they spoke with the actor about his legally registered firearm before taking it into their custody for safekeeping.
Rourke, who was born Philip Andre Rourke Jr., reportedly indicated that he plans to leave the area and no longer requires the firearm. If he does not reclaim the gun within a year, it will be destroyed, as stated by NBC Los Angeles.

This news follows a recent complaint filed on December 29, revealing that the former boxer owes nearly $60,000 in past-due rent on his Los Angeles home.
Liya-Joelle Jones, an individual who identified herself as the assistant to Rourke’s manager, Kimberly Hines, initiated a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $100,000, claiming it was created with Rourke’s consent to cover immediate housing-related costs and mitigate eviction risks.

However, Rourke has publicly distanced himself from the GoFundMe effort, stating in a January 5 Instagram video that he had no knowledge of the campaign, labeling it “humiliating.” He stated, “If I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for no f—– charity.”
Rourke acknowledged having borrowed money from a close friend following financial difficulties but emphasized that he would never solicit funds from strangers or supporters, asserting, “That’s not my style.”
In an interview with *The Hollywood Reporter* on January 6, Hines clarified that the crowdfunding effort was initiated by Rourke’s team, asserting that while they had informed him, he may not have completely grasped the situation at the time. She added that Rourke’s team had relocated him due to issues related to black mold and a lack of running water in his previous residence.
The actor has faced several challenges recently, including pursuing legal action against *Celebrity Big Brother UK* following disputes over payment associated with his controversial departure from the show in April 2025.
Looking ahead, Rourke has projects lined up, including roles in *A Walking Miracle* and *3 Days Rising*. Additionally, he is set to appear in the upcoming satirical film *National Lampoon’s Hollywood Hustle*.
