Metrolink Train Accident Claims Life in Northridge
A Metrolink train struck and killed an individual Friday evening in Northridge, near an area not designated for pedestrian crossing, according to local authorities.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene in the 17200 block of Chase Street, north of Roscoe Boulevard, around 7:25 p.m. following reports of the incident, as confirmed by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. In response to the collision, rail service in the area was temporarily suspended, and the tracks were closed until further notice.
Details regarding the identity of the deceased had not been released, and authorities have yet to determine how the individual came to be on the tracks. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
