Men Who Saved a Driver from a Fiery Crash Share Their Inspiring Experience
Two Men Save Driver from Fiery North Hollywood Crash
In a dramatic display of bravery, two men rescued a driver from a burning vehicle following a serious accident in North Hollywood. Kevin Sullivan and Wilmer Hernandez, employees at Circus Liquor, sprang into action without hesitation as they witnessed the incident unfold on Tuesday afternoon.
While on duty, the duo heard a loud crash outside their store. They quickly discovered that a Hyundai electric vehicle had collided with a power pole, igniting flames in the process. Despite the danger, Sullivan and Hernandez rushed to help the driver, who remained trapped inside.
“I rushed over and pried the door open and took him out of the burning vehicle,” Sullivan recounted.
Hernandez added, “We pulled him out of the car and he was kind of unconscious.” Together, they managed to pull the driver to safety.
Surveillance footage from the scene captures the tense moment of the rescue. The video shows heavy smoke billowing from the car, with a small fire spreading. Hernandez can be seen attempting to extinguish the flames before both men guide the driver to a safer area of the parking lot, aided by a nearby woman.
Moments later, the fire intensified, engulfing the vehicle entirely. The collision also caused nearby power lines to fall, complicating the emergency.
Reflecting on their decision to act, both men expressed no regret. “The electrical wires came down, and after the fact, someone said, ‘You know, you guys could have been electrocuted,’ and I didn’t think. I just ran,” Hernandez remarked.
Sullivan echoed his thoughts, stating, “It’s what you’re supposed to do, you know? You’re supposed to help people.”
Their actions undoubtedly made a difference, highlighting the importance of courage in the face of danger.
