Mel B Shares Her Thoughts on Why the Spice Girls Documentary Is Still in the Works: “It Needs to Be Genuine”
As the 30th anniversary approaches, fans of the Spice Girls are eagerly anticipating the British girl group’s potential return in some capacity.
Following last year’s hints about plans for the milestone, Mel B recently shared insights regarding the group’s activities. While she indicated that all five members have been considering a documentary, she highlighted that such a project may not materialize at this time.
“I think we’ve all been asked and were all thinking about it at some point,” Mel B stated in an interview with Hello!. “But it has to be done in the right way, and it has to be honest – and not everybody wants to be honest.”
Last April, Mel B hinted at a potential reunion in an Instagram post, noting, “Organising my pics and it’s all spice girls maybe it’s time to do it all over again?”

Mel C also recognized the upcoming anniversary, stating on an Australian radio station, “It’s 30 years next year since the release of ‘Wannabe’. We have to do something special. Obviously, I can’t say too much but we are talking about things. Hopefully a nice little world tour!”
Geri Horner expressed her optimism about a reunion, saying, “My hope is we come back together as a collective. It’s more respectful to come as one,” in an interview with The Times.
The Spice Girls released their debut single ‘Wannabe’ on June 26, 1996, marking the beginning of their remarkable journey with the album Spice.
The last performance featuring all five members took place during the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Although they have reunited for events since, including a tour in 2019 without Victoria Beckham, that Olympic performance remains their final appearance as a complete group.
