Mary Stuart Masterson Collaborates with Angelina Jolie in Exciting New Thriller ‘Sunny’
Mary Stuart Masterson Joins Cast of Mafia Thriller Sunny
Mary Stuart Masterson, noted for her role in Five Nights at Freddy’s, has officially joined the cast of Sunny, a mafia thriller directed by Norwegian filmmaker Eva Sørhaug.
Details about Masterson’s specific role remain undisclosed. The film also features Angelina Jolie in a lead role, alongside actors Charlie Plummer, Jason Schmidt, and Cliff “Method Man” Smith.
Sunny tells the story of a female gangster who must protect both her sons and herself from an abusive drug kingpin. Following a catastrophic event, she finds herself with only hours to orchestrate their escape.
The script for Sunny was penned by William Day Frank, who collaborated with Sørhaug on the story. Production is being managed by Gramercy Park Media, A Higher Standard, and Nickel City Pictures, with Jolie, Nathan Klingher, Mark Fasano, and Jeffrey Greenstein taking on producing roles. Sørhaug will serve as executive producer. A Higher Standard is responsible for worldwide sales, while WME Independent will co-represent domestic sales.
Masterson is recognized for her performances in iconic films such as Some Kind of Wonderful, Fried Green Tomatoes, and Benny & Joon. Recently, she appeared alongside Josh Hutcherson in the Universal/Blumhouse success Five Nights at Freddy’s, which generated over $291 million globally. Additionally, she stars in Rod Lurie’s film The Senior, with Michael Chiklis, Brandon Flynn, and Rob Corddry, and leads the independent project Borrowed Time opposite Diane Ladd. Her television credits include recent roles in ABC’s For Life and NBC’s Blindspot. Masterson is represented by Paradigm and Untitled Entertainment.
