- Mark Consuelos shared a photo of himself missing a front tooth on Live with Kelly and Mark, prompting light-hearted commentary from his wife, Kelly Ripa.
- The tooth loss was a result of a childhood injury and complications during an implant procedure.
- Consuelos humorously discussed the experience of going toothless in public, embracing the opportunity to surprise onlookers.
On the February 4 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, 54-year-old Consuelos opened up about a time he temporarily lost a front tooth, a situation that still elicits a reaction from Ripa, 55.
“We all have eyes. I’m not going to try to objectify you. You are so handsome,” Ripa told Consuelos. “You’ve got a dazzling smile. And yet — you take away that front tooth? I was like, ‘Ohhhh.’ ”
Ripa further emphasized the dramatic change, stating, “I’m not kidding, his entire face changes.”
Viewers were treated to a glimpse of Consuelos’s toothless grin later in the episode. He confidently shared a photo that showcased the gap, which transformed his usually polished appearance.
“It really was like, ‘In sickness and in health,’ like, they didn’t say anything about dental health!” Ripa joked. “That’s not even in the vows!”

Consuelos then recounted the origins of his tooth issue, describing a “very traumatic” childhood injury that occurred during a gym obstacle course in fourth grade. “I hit my tooth on a little bar you had to go under and it chipped my tooth in half,” he recalled.
This injury led to multiple dental procedures over the years, with doctors eventually recommending a permanent implant.

Consuelos explained that between the fitting and installation of the permanent implant, he had to wear a temporary denture known as a “flipper.” He had some fun with it, surprising people by popping the tooth out.
Ripa noted, “He loved popping the tooth out and just shocking people. Because he becomes a different person entirely. It’s wild.”
As Consuelos prepared to film a scene for Riverdale in Vancouver, a temporary tooth given to him fell out during takeoff, leaving him to rely on the flipper. Later, while dining at Emilio’s Ballato in New York City, he boldly went toothless, expressing enjoyment in the freedom it brought.
“I went toothless to this restaurant. I didn’t care!” Consuelos said. “I was hamming it up, obviously, [in that photo]. But there’s a bit of freedom to go out in New York City [like that].”
Ripa humorously added, “You weren’t afraid that something was going to get stuck in your tooth!”
