An underground rescue operation is currently underway in Chatsworth following reports of two men involved in a copper wire theft, according to local police.
Authorities were alerted at approximately 2 a.m. when a neighbor witnessed the theft occurring near Mason Avenue, between Chatsworth and San Jose streets. Upon arrival, officers took one suspect into custody, while the second man remained uncooperative and did not emerge from the underground location.
Firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department suspect that the second individual may be unhoused. They employed a specialized camera to locate and communicate with him.
