Man Arrested After Fatal Hit-and-Run in Van Nuys
LOS ANGELES – A man is in custody following a tragic hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of a pedestrian at a busy intersection in Van Nuys late Monday night.
Authorities reported that officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Sherman Way just before 10:10 p.m. on May 4, after receiving alerts about a man lying in the roadway.
Witnesses described seeing a white four-door BMW speeding southbound on Sepulveda when the vehicle struck the pedestrian, who was in a crosswalk at the time. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Investigators confirmed that the driver fled the location but apprehended a 40-year-old man not long after the incident. His specific identity has not yet been released.
