Glendale Man Arrested After Brandishing Weapons Near Golf Course
RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. – Sean Steiner, 36, of Glendale, was arrested on multiple felony firearm charges following reports of an armed individual near local hiking trails. Authorities located him running through traffic and wearing body armor on the afternoon of the incident.
Deputies of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were summoned to Palos Verdes Drive South, close to Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles, where they spotted Steiner. Witnesses had noticed him hiking nearby while dressed in rifle-rated body armor, gloves, and carrying a rifle, a duffle bag, and a step stool.
Upon his arrest, deputies recovered a semi-automatic short-barreled rifle, along with a loaded revolver. Investigators confirmed that the rifle was loaded with one round in the chamber and a fully inserted magazine. The weapon, decorated in green and purple paint, displayed phrases such as "Why so serious?" and "Let’s put a smile on that face."
Steiner reportedly admitted to deputies that he had discharged one of the pistols in a nearby landslide area to "get some anger out."
Evidence Recovered
During the investigation, officials retrieved several significant items, including:
- A short-barreled semi-automatic rifle with an orange-painted tip resembling a toy gun
- Two loaded handguns
- High-capacity magazines and additional ammunition
- A ballistic vest designed to stop rifle rounds
Authorities emphasized the importance of the public’s involvement in ensuring safety. The caller’s proactive actions under the “See Something, Say Something” initiative facilitated Steiner’s safe detainment in a populated area, preventing potential harm to others.
Steiner was subsequently booked on multiple felony firearm charges.
