26-Year-Old Man Shot Dead While Intervening in Restaurant Fight in Wilmington
A 26-year-old man has died following a shooting incident at a pizza restaurant in Wilmington on Saturday evening, according to police reports. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to the scene of the shooting at Red West Pizza on Pacific Coast Highway just before 6 p.m.
Authorities stated that the man was shot while attempting to break up a fight between two women inside the restaurant. During the confrontation, a suspect produced a firearm and opened fire, hitting both the 26-year-old victim and another man.
Emergency medical teams transported both individuals to the hospital, where the younger victim was pronounced dead. The second victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, LAPD officials confirmed.
The suspect, described as a man in his early to mid-20s, fled the scene on foot following the shooting. Later that evening, around 9:15 p.m., police reported that a possible suspect was detained for questioning. However, they were unable to confirm whether an arrest had been made.
The investigation into the incident continues as police seek to gather more information.
