In a blend of fashion inspiration and affordability, costume designer Molly Rogers, known for her work on “The Devil Wears Prada” and “And Just Like That,” has unveiled a new collection with Macy’s label, On 34th. “If you’re a New Yorker, or you’ve lived in any big city, you know that you can’t walk down a block without seeing something that stimulates you fashion-wise, hair-wise, makeup-wise,” Rogers stated in an exclusive interview. She emphasized how her experiences in bustling urban environments fueled her creative vision for the collection, stating, “I really bring that street inspiration into the fitting room. I used that as the foundation into doing this Macy’s collection.”
Inspired by the glamour of Manhattan, Rogers’ collection features a range of chic and colorful tops, skirts, jackets, and accessories that can easily transition from day to night. Rogers explained her design process, saying, “I was like, what are my greatest hits, and how can I reimagine them for Macy’s?” This introspective approach allowed her to incorporate improvements from her fittings with various actresses, enhancing the functionality and aesthetic appeal of each piece. “Sometimes, I thought about what didn’t work in a fitting,” she added, highlighting her collaborative efforts with Macy’s in editing the collection.
