Machete Attack on Teen at Pomona Laundromat Caught on Video
Teen Targeted in Laundromat Attack Over Jersey
A man was captured on security footage attacking a teenager with a machete in a Pomona laundromat on Saturday. The incident unfolded around 10 a.m. on Holt Avenue near Fairplex Drive, where 17-year-old Jacob Hernandez was working at his father’s business.
According to Jacob, the confrontation began outside the laundromat. "I had a red shirt because the 49ers were playing that day. He came in, saw my shirt and said, ‘Get that red off,’" he recounted.
The footage shows the suspect entering the laundromat with the weapon while several customers were present. Jacob reported that the man struck a countertop with the machete during the altercation.
Phil Hernandez, Jacob’s father, was operating a machine when he heard screams. He quickly reacted by closing the door as the attacker stepped outside momentarily. However, the assailant returned and shattered the glass door with the machete before fleeing the scene.
"What bothered me the most was that he went after my son. I wasn’t supposed to be here that day, and my son works here alone," Phil Hernandez said. "I’m not sure how my son or anyone would have handled that."
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. As of Monday, police have stated that no arrests have been made, but the investigation remains ongoing.
