Lupita Jones Shares Her Thoughts on Feeling Humiliated in ‘La Casa De Los Famosos’ and Her Reflections on Joining the Telemundo Reality Show
Lupita Jones, crowned Miss Universe in 1991 for Mexico, recently faced a new challenge as a contestant on La Casa de los Famosos. However, her journey on the reality show ended abruptly, with Jones becoming the second celebrity evicted during the second week.
Initially, Jones was the first cast member confirmed for Season 6 of the popular reality show. After her eviction, she shared her decision to refrain from reading audience feedback, unsure whether the reactions would be positive or negative.
“My husband told me, ‘You have to read the comments,’” Jones recalled. He reassured her that viewers had remained supportive, saying, “They didn’t leave you alone. There were teams from my fellow housemates that were there [voting] with mine, and that made me feel warm to be recognized by the people that value what I had to offer during this time.”
Despite high expectations for her performance, Jones expressed disappointment, stating, “I don’t feel satisfied.” She acknowledged the unique dynamics of the game, saying, “I’m conscious that in these types of situations you win by losing. I don’t know what would’ve happened if the situation in that house had continued under the conditions that they’re in.”
The current season has proven dramatic from the start, featuring strong personalities among the cast. As a beauty queen, Jones chose to remain above the fray, abstaining from heated exchanges, especially between housemates Laura Zapata and Oriana Marzoli. “I tried to maintain my ‘mental’ state at the center,” she explained. “I did it, and I feel proud of myself in that aspect because there were many times that I would bite my tongue and told myself, ‘Lupita, don’t get caught up.’”
Much of the tension in the house has stemmed from Oriana Marzoli, who was in the elimination room alongside Jones during her exit. Jones admitted sharing the spotlight with Marzoli was not an enjoyable experience. After her eviction, Jones described feeling “humiliated,” clarifying, “When I said I felt humiliated, it wasn’t because I was eliminated, nor because the public didn’t vote for me, because I am aware they did vote for me.”
Jones expressed a desire to have stayed in the elimination room with fellow nominees like Sergio Mayer or Curvy, whom she could have “hugged goodbye.”
Reflecting on her time on La Casa de los Famosos, Jones stated she does not regret participating, indicating that she aimed to showcase a different side of herself beyond her role as a beauty pageant director. “I saw this opportunity to connect with the audience in a different way,” she added.
La Casa de los Famosos airs Sunday through Friday at 7 p.m. ET on Telemundo.
