Lorenza Izzo Cast Alongside Taylor Schilling and Michiel Huisman in NBC’s New Pilot ‘What The Dead Know’
Lorenza Izzo, known for her role in Hacks, has been cast as a lead in NBC’s upcoming crime drama pilot What The Dead Know. She will star alongside Taylor Schilling and Michiel Huisman in a project produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
The series, written by Beth Rinehart, draws inspiration from the memoir of former New York City death investigator Barbara Butcher. It focuses on the character Ava Ledger, portrayed by Schilling, a highly intelligent and hyper-vigilant death investigator who excels in dealing with the deceased but struggles with the living. The narrative follows Ava as she collaborates with the NYPD to crack some of their most challenging cases.
In the series, Izzo takes on the role of Detective Danielle Castillo, a computer crimes specialist recently moved to homicide investigations. Huisman plays William Grant, an experienced NYPD homicide detective who believes that justice is straightforward and clearly defined.
Rinehart will serve as an executive producer for What the Dead Know, alongside Dick Wolf, Tom Thayer, Peter Jankowski, and Anastasia Puglisi from Wolf Entertainment. The co-executive producers include Kevin Plunkett, Rebecca McGill, and Butcher, while Fred Berner is set to direct and executive produce the pilot.
Izzo’s recent credits include her portrayal in HBO Max’s Emmy-winning Hacks and the film Confess, Fletch, directed by Greg Mottola alongside Jon Hamm. She has also appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood, Women Is Loser, which she produced, and Stone Cold Fox. Her upcoming project includes a role in the Amazon Prime series El Gato Negro.
