Long Beach Catholic School Victimized by Burglary
Thieves Ransack Long Beach Catholic School, Destroy Religious Artifacts
A Catholic school in Long Beach is reeling following a burglary that left the campus in disarray. On Monday, authorities received reports of an incident at Holy Innocents Catholic School, located on the 2500 block of Pacific Avenue.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the thieves stole various items, including audio-visual equipment, and caused significant damage by destroying multiple religious statues.
“There’s so much damage that has happened,” said Cyril Cruz, the school’s principal. “I think the part that really sticks out is the damage that’s done to a lot of the religious articles. We had a blessed mother statue that’s been here since 1958 since the school started.”
Currently, there is no detailed description of the suspects involved in the crime. Law enforcement officials indicated that the investigation is still in its early stages, and no arrests have been made to date.
The incident raises concerns about security at educational institutions and the preservation of cultural and religious heritage in the community.
