The secret ingredient to a memorable roast appears to be a flute solo.
In a surprise appearance at The Roast of Kevin Hart, part of the Netflix is a Joke Fest on Sunday, May 10, Lizzo brought a festive flair. With her flute in hand, she led a procession of performers dressed as characters created by Hart, bringing a lively atmosphere to the event. As she played a rendition of “Blow the Whistle” by Too Short, the dancers, referred to as the “Krew of Kevins,” joined in with choreographed moves.
“C’mon, f— it up, Kevin,” Lizzo shouted, encouraging one performer dressed in a chicken costume as she showcased some impressive breakdancing. Hart himself appeared visibly shocked and amused by the spectacle. “Go Kevin! Go Little Kevin!” she cheered.

After handing off her flute, Lizzo took the podium to deliver her roast of the celebrated comedian. She chose to highlight a shared experience they both encounter.
“Kevin and I are both mocked for our size,” Lizzo quipped. “We share that pain. But I can lose weight, you can’t get taller n—,” she jested, pointing at Hart and laughing.
Lizzo was not the only music star to grace the stage; Usher opened the show with a parody of his Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit, “Burn.” His revised lyrics poked fun at Hart.
“Tell me why I should stay in this fake friendship/ ‘Cause we ain’t laughin’, Kevin/ It keeps happenin’, Kevin/ Plus, you’re probably somewhere filming some bulls–t,” Usher sang, prompting Hart to ask, “what the f— [he was] doing.”
Teyana Taylor, fresh from receiving her Visionary Award at the Billboard Women in Music ceremony, also took her turn to roast Hart. “See, I feel like roasting you is kind of beneath me,” Taylor addressed him. “I know it’s kind of a foreign thing, a foreign concept, because there is literally nothing that is beneath you.”
Taylor continued her playful jabs, comparing her achievements to Hart’s: “I would never say something so hateful like, ‘I starred in One Battle After Another, while Kevin’s career has been one bomb after another.’”
