Live Updates on the BAFTA TV Awards Winners List
The BAFTA TV Awards commenced Sunday afternoon at London’s Royal Festival Hall, celebrating the pinnacle of British television.
This esteemed evening promises to showcase some of the industry’s most prominent figures, with stars like Colin Firth, Aimee Lou Wood, Taron Egerton, and Matt Smith vying for top honors over the next three hours.
Leading the nominations is Netflix’s Adolescence, which boasts an impressive 11 nods, including five for its talented cast: Stephen Graham, Ashley Walters, Owen Cooper, Christine Tremarco, and Erin Doherty. The series is also contending in the highly sought-after Limited Drama category.
Doherty and Wood are both nominated in multiple categories, with Doherty recognized for her performance in Disney+’s A Thousand Blows, which has received several nominations as well. In the competitive Leading Actor category, Firth, Smith, and Egerton will face off against each other. Additionally, Steve Coogan is nominated for Actor in a Comedy, and BBC’s top-rated show of the year, The Celebrity Traitors, is in the running for five awards.
Two weeks prior, the BAFTA Craft Awards recognized Adolescence with two wins for direction and sound. Created by Graham and Jack Thorne, the series is positioned to make a significant impact during the main event tonight.
Hosted by Greg Davies, this awards show marks BAFTA and the BBC’s first substantial event since the Film Awards, which faced controversy when campaigner John Davidson inadvertently yelled a racial slur at the stars of Sinners. Last week, it was reported that the BBC has been preparing cautiously for this occasion.
