Lionsgate Welcomes Former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to Its Board

Lionsgate Studios has appointed Steven T. Mnuchin, former United States Secretary of the Treasury, to its board, effective immediately.

Mnuchin, who served as the 77th Treasury Secretary under President Donald Trump from 2017 to 2021, was instrumental in shaping the administration’s economic agenda. His role included serving as Finance Chairman for Trump’s campaign and as a Senior Economic Advisor.

Before his tenure in public office, Mnuchin had a notable career in finance, co-founding Dune Capital Management—a hedge fund that focused on investments in the entertainment sector. He co-financed the original Avatar film and holds numerous executive producer credits. Currently, he is the Managing Partner at Liberty Strategic Capital, a private equity firm that emphasizes investments in technology, financial services, fintech, and innovative content.

In a statement, Lionsgate expressed confidence in Mnuchin’s extensive experience in global financial markets, highlighting his previous roles as a partner at Goldman Sachs and chair of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). The company noted that his background equips him with strong judgment in risk management, governance, and capital markets.
