Lionsgate Partners with Comedy Veteran Adam Eget at SXSW
Lionsgate Teams Up with Adam Eget for Original Comedy Content
As South by Southwest (SXSW) kicks off this week, Lionsgate has announced a first-look deal with Austin comedy figure Adam Eget. This collaboration aims to develop original comedy features for the studio’s Motion Picture Group.
Eget will lead projects that emerge from stand-up performances, podcasts, live tours, and digital platforms, providing comedic talent a pathway to theatrical releases. He is recognized for nurturing comedic talent and revitalizing comedy venues, currently overseeing Joe Rogan’s Comedy Mothership, a key establishment in Austin’s burgeoning comedy landscape. Eget also served as the talent coordinator for the famed Comedy Store in Los Angeles, where he played a significant role in its revival. Additionally, he co-hosted Norm Macdonald Has a Show on Netflix and the podcast Norm Macdonald Live.
“Adam has a strong track record of discovering unique and promising new comedic talent at the earliest stages in their careers and taking them to the next level, in addition to having a singular comedic voice of his own,” said Erin Westerman, President of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. “We’re excited to partner with him to build fresh, authentic, audience-driven comedies by backing distinctive voices early and giving creators the space to develop projects for a theatrical audience.”
Eget emphasized the shifting landscape of comedy, stating, “The most compelling comedy today is happening beyond the traditional film and TV system — in clubs, online, and on new digital platforms. Lionsgate understands the value of those voices and is committed to bringing them to the big screen.”
In a related event, Lionsgate is set to premiere John Carney’s Power Ballad, featuring Nick Jonas and Paul Rudd, at SXSW on Saturday, March 14, at 2 PM CT at the Paramount Theatre.
