Linda Hamilton, 69, Shares Her Honest Thoughts on Aging in Hollywood: “This Is the Face I’ve Earned”
Linda Hamilton Embraces Aging and Self-Acceptance
Linda Hamilton, the 69-year-old actress best known for her iconic role as Sarah Connor in the "Terminator" series, has opened up about her views on aging and beauty in a recent interview with AARP. The actress, who is also set to appear in the upcoming season of "Stranger Things," emphasizes her comfort with her own appearance and her rejection of Hollywood’s rigid beauty standards.
In the interview, Hamilton stated, “I do not spend a moment trying to look younger on any level, ever,” adding that she does not “chase beauty.” She expressed a sense of surrender to her current appearance, saying, “I have just completely surrendered to the fact that this is the face that I’ve earned. And it tells me so much.”
Hamilton’s perspective on beauty has resonated deeply with her daughter, Josephine Cameron, who once remarked at age six that her mother was “beautiful” because her face “is filled with joy.” This reflection, according to Hamilton, has influenced her personal definition of beauty ever since.
While Hamilton maintains a commitment to a healthy lifestyle, she asserts that she is not overly strict with herself. “I’m not rigid, which is a fantastic way to get older,” she noted. “I’ve always said that rigidifying is what kills us: the rigid thoughts and the sort of not moving. I’ve tried very hard in my life to stay as fluid as possible.”
As she prepares to portray scientist Dr. Kay in "Stranger Things," Hamilton has adopted a varied fitness routine. She works out three times a week, focusing on a mix of Pilates, yoga, and strength training. “I kind of love that: to go in and not have a chest and back day, but just have a ‘what do you need to loosen up and stretch out today?’” she shared.
In recent years, Hamilton has become a powerful voice in advocating for self-acceptance and authenticity, inspiring many to embrace their own journeys with aging.
