Liaison Producer Leaves TF1 Studio in France
Ringside Studios Completes Buyout from Studio TF1
Ringside Studios, the UK production company behind Apple TV’s series Liaison, has successfully completed a management buyout from Studio TF1, a French producer previously known as Newen.
Founded in 2020 in collaboration with Gub Neal, a producer of The Fall, Studio TF1 held nearly 57% ownership of Ringside prior to the buyout. With this transition, Neal, who serves as the creative chair of Ringside, will assume full control alongside CEO Kate Bennetts and creative director Edward Barlow. Steve November, who oversees the Ringside label Further South Productions, will shift into a producing role within the company.
Neal expressed pride in the accomplishments of Ringside, stating, “We’re proud of what Ringside has built with the support of Studio TF1 over the past six years, and grateful for the opportunity we have been granted by Studio TF1 to move forward as a fully independent company.”
David O’Donoghue, the former Universal International Studios executive who joined Studio TF1 as EVP of international last year, emphasized the continued importance of the UK market to the company. “Our partnership with Ringside has been highly valued, and we fully support Gub, Kate and Ed as they move forward as independent producers,” he remarked.
This shift marks a significant milestone for Ringside Studios as it embarks on a new chapter in its evolution as an independent entity.
