Lawrence Taylor Shares Latest on His Unexpected Hospital Stay
Update on Lawrence Taylor’s Hospitalization
Lawrence Taylor, the former New York Giants star and Pro Football Hall of Fame member, remains hospitalized as of Monday, April 27, 2026. A representative confirmed that Taylor has been undergoing treatment for a stomach-related issue since his admission on April 20. The statement indicated that while his condition is not life-threatening and he is showing signs of improvement, a discharge date has yet to be determined.
“Lawrence asks that I convey his sincere gratitude to everyone who has been thinking of him and keeping him in their prayers during this challenging time,” the representative added.
Taylor, 67, was initially hospitalized after experiencing a medical emergency on Friday, April 24, in New Jersey. While details about his condition remain limited, sources close to him have expressed optimism, suggesting that the situation may not be serious and he could be discharged soon.
Having spent his entire professional career with the Giants from 1981 to 1993, Taylor has faced various health challenges throughout his life, often linked to his past struggles with substance abuse. In a reflective 2012 interview with ESPN, he candidly recounted experiences during his playing days, including drug use. He noted the significant impact of these choices on his life, stating, “I’m worried about what’s going to happen to me the rest of my life unless I get myself straight.”
Despite his previous health issues, Taylor appeared to be in good spirits during a visit to his alma mater, the University of North Carolina, in March. Photos from the visit showed him smiling alongside Bill Belichick, the Giants’ defensive coordinator during Taylor’s tenure.
As he continues to recover, fans and the sports community alike are keeping Taylor in their thoughts, wishing him a swift return to health.
