Lauren Sánchez Brings a Bold Artistic Touch to the Met Gala 2026 Red Carpet
Lauren Sánchez Channels "Madame X" at the 2026 Met Gala
Lauren Sánchez made a striking entrance at the 2026 Met Gala, donning a custom Schiaparelli gown inspired by John Singer Sargent’s iconic portrait, “Madame X.”
The painting, often regarded as one of the most scandalous works in art history, continues to draw significant attention at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Sánchez’s navy gown featured a daring low-cut neckline, intricate pearl and crystal straps, and a corset-style lace-up back that added a dramatic flair appropriate for the evening’s “Costume Art” theme.
At 56, the Blue Origin space traveler styled her long brown hair to the side, showcasing stunning jewelry that included 60-carat diamond and pearl drop earrings and a 35-carat single-stone marquise Golconda diamond ring by Lorraine Schwartz.
Sánchez posed solo on the carpet before joining fashion icons Nicole Kidman and Anna Wintour at the receiving line for the gala. The event marked a significant role for Sánchez and her partner, Jeff Bezos, who co-sponsored the gala with a reported contribution of at least $10 million.
Sánchez expressed her gratitude to stylist Law Roach for creating her noteworthy look via social media. The couple’s prominence at the gala has sparked discussions, given their substantial financial backing which also earned them honorary co-chair titles along with other celebrities, including Beyoncé and Venus Williams.
Before the Met Gala, Sánchez and Bezos hosted an extravagant pre-gala party attended by numerous celebrities, reinforcing their status in the fashion community. This appearance followed Sánchez’s recent Vogue profile, which detailed her fashionable journey alongside Bezos, further solidifying her place in the spotlight.
In 2024, Sánchez made her Met Gala debut wearing a black mirrored ballgown featuring floral patterns. The couple continues to engage with the fashion world, recently attending Paris Fashion Week and collaborating with renowned stylists. Their connection with the fashion industry is evident as they navigate this space together, making waves at prestigious events.
