LAPD Looks into Explosives Reported in Downtown LA Car
Ongoing Investigation into Potential Explosives in Downtown Los Angeles
Authorities are investigating a report of explosives found in a vehicle in downtown Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed the investigation following a tip to an undisclosed federal agency on Saturday.
The alert came from a caller who noticed suspicious items in a car near the intersection of West 5th and Figueroa Streets. Upon receiving the information, the federal agency promptly notified the LAPD, which initiated an investigation.
“This appears to have nothing to do with the marathon,” police stated. “The LAPD will continue to work with their federal partners to ensure the safety of the runners and spectators and take all of these incidents seriously.”
As of now, police have not confirmed whether any explosives were recovered from the site. The investigation is ongoing.
