Labrinth Shares His Reasons for Skipping ‘Euphoria’ Season 3: Prioritizing Respect in Music Choices
Labrinth Addresses Music Absence from Euphoria Season 3
British singer and producer Labrinth has clarified why his music will not feature in the upcoming third season of Euphoria. In a statement shared on his Instagram Stories on April 11, the 37-year-old artist expressed his sentiments regarding the hit HBO series, set to premiere its new season on April 12.
"PEOPLE WILL COMFORTABLE LIE IN THIS INDUSTRY AND STILL CALL THEMSELVES HONEST PEOPLE," Labrinth wrote in an emphatic post. "SO NO CAP. I DECIDED TO REMOVE WHAT EVER MUSIC I HAD IN IT.”
His comments come in the wake of an announcement that Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer will take over as the sole composer for the eight new episodes, which move ahead five years from the previous season. Initially, Labrinth had been confirmed to collaborate with Zimmer on the show’s soundtrack.
"I SPOKE TO HBO AS FAR I KNOW WE ARE COOL," Labrinth added in his statement. "I LEFT BECAUSE. LAST TRUTH. WHEN I WORK FOR SOMEONE, THEIR VISION IS PARAMOUNT TO ME. BUT I DON’T LET PEOPLE TREAT ME LIKE S—T."
This isn’t the first time Labrinth has voiced his frustration with the industry. In a mid-March social media post, later deleted, he criticized his record label and the Euphoria series, stating, "I’M DONE WITH THIS INDUSTRY / F—K COLUMBIA / DOUBLE F–K EUPHORIA / I’M OUT."
Earlier this week, Euphoria creator and executive producer Sam Levinson addressed the situation in an interview with Rolling Stone. "I don’t know," Levinson stated, acknowledging Labrinth’s significant contribution. "He’s an incredible collaborator and someone who really built the foundation of the sound of Euphoria."
Levinson further discussed Zimmer’s suitability for the new season, remarking that "Euphoria’s characters have storylines akin to their own films."
Labrinth has served as the lead score producer for Euphoria since its 2019 debut. Before his work on the series, he was signed to Simon Cowell’s Syco label, producing two albums. Throughout his career, he has seen seven songs reach the Billboard Hot 100, including a collaborative track featuring Euphoria star Zendaya.
In addition to his current endeavors, Labrinth is scheduled to perform on the outdoor stage at the 2026 Coachella festival, coinciding with the premiere of Euphoria Season 3.
