LA28 Olympic Ticket Sales Now Open for Southern California Residents with Prices Starting at Just $28
Tickets for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games officially went on sale on April 2, marking a significant milestone in the lead-up to the event. This initial round of ticket sales is available exclusively to pre-registered residents of Southern California and Oklahoma City, selected through a random drawing.
Eligible applicants have a 48-hour window to purchase up to 12 tickets, with prices starting at a symbolic $28 and going over $1,000 for premium seating. Following this local pre-sale, a broader public sale is set for April 9 to April 19, and tickets for the Paralympic Games will become available in 2027.
The ticket sale prioritizes residents from five counties in California—Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura—as well as Oklahoma City, where events like softball and canoe slalom are planned. Randomly selected fans will receive email notifications 48 hours prior to their designated purchasing time.
LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover highlighted the importance of fostering consumer confidence during this high-demand period. “With millions around the globe registered for the LA28 Ticket Draw — and as excitement for LA28 continues to grow, we want fans to have the information they need to shop with confidence as we approach the first ticket drop,” he stated.
Each purchase is subject to limits, with a cap of 12 tickets per buyer, plus an additional 12 for soccer matches. High-demand events, including the opening and closing ceremonies, are restricted to four tickets per person. Organizers have aimed for accessibility in pricing; while some tickets begin at $28, they note that about half will cost more than $200, and approximately 5% of premium seats will exceed $1,000.
For those not selected in this round, a general public sale is set to commence soon, with more ticket releases expected in the months leading up to the Games. The official Secondary Ticket Marketplace is projected to launch in 2027, coinciding with the release of Paralympic tickets.
Fans are advised to check their emails for notifications about their purchasing window and to prepare for online queues. Avoiding unofficial channels is recommended to prevent scams, as the authorized resale market will not be operational until a year from now.
