LA Metro Moves Buses Featuring ‘Melania’ Documentary Ads Due to Vandalism Worries
Vandalism Forces LA Metro to Reassign Buses Displaying ‘Melania’ Documentary Posters
Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) officials announced on Wednesday that they have decided to reassign buses carrying advertisements for the documentary "Melania" due to concerns over significant vandalism targeting the promotional posters.
The advertisements for the film, which centers on former First Lady Melania Trump, were installed at bus stops throughout Los Angeles ahead of the documentary’s scheduled release on January 30. However, many of these posters and the accompanying bus stop signs have been defaced with graffiti and offensive language.
"After seeing significant vandalism at city bus stops on advertising for the Melania movie, Metro proactively reassigned some of the buses containing that advertising to other geographic areas to minimize potential vandalism," a spokesperson for LA Metro stated.
Interestingly, the vandalized bus stops are operated by the city and do not fall under the jurisdiction of LA Metro, clarifying the agency’s role in the situation.
Despite these challenges, LA Metro confirmed that the buses are operating on their regular schedules. The "Melania" documentary, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, is anticipated to be available on Amazon Prime Video following its theatrical run.
