Keyla Monterroso Mejia and Mo Amer Join Cast of Apple TV’s Bad Monkey
Keyla Monterroso Mejia and Mo Amer have been cast in recurring roles for the second season of Bad Monkey, the Apple TV comedy executive produced by and featuring Vince Vaughn.
Details about their characters remain undisclosed. Based on the bestselling novel by Carl Hiaasen and created by Bill Lawrence, Bad Monkey will introduce a new original storyline in its second season. The first season followed Andrew Yancy, played by Vaughn, who, after losing his job with the Miami Police Department, becomes a health inspector in the Florida Keys. His life takes a turn when he discovers a human arm, igniting a quest to prove a murder and reclaim his former position amidst an array of Florida misfits and a troublesome monkey.
The inaugural season also featured performances from L. Scott Caldwell, Rob Delaney, Meredith Hagner, Martinez, Alex Moffat, Michelle Monaghan, Ronald Peet, and Jodie Turner-Smith. Special appearances included John Ortiz and guest roles by Zach Braff, Ashley Nicole Black, Scott Glenn, and Bill Lawrence in her television debut.
Bad Monkey is produced by Warner Bros. Television, with Bill Lawrence serving as executive producer and showrunner through his Doozer Productions. Other executive producers include Jeff Ingold, Matt Tarses, Vaughn, Liza Katzer, and Adam Sztykiel.
Monterroso Mejia gained recognition for her performance alongside Larry David in HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. She was subsequently cast in Season 2 of Abbott Elementary, created by Quinta Brunson. Her recent television credits also include The Studio, Running Point, and Acapulco. Her film credits include Amazon MGM’s You’re Cordially Invited and Sony’s One of Them Days. She is represented by UTA, Artists First, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
Amer, recently recognized as one of the Comics Who Won 2025, just wrapped his global tour, El Oso Palestino, which included over 100 shows and sold 135,000 tickets. His third Netflix special, Wild World, along with the second season of his semi-autobiographical series Mo, both made it to the streamer’s Top 10. Amer is represented by CAA, manager Mustafa Abuelhija, and Schreck Rose Dapello.
