Mixed Reactions from Gwyneth Paltrow’s Children to On-Set Kiss
Gwyneth Paltrow recently shared the varied responses from her children after seeing photos of her kissing Timothée Chalamet on the set of their upcoming film, Marty Supreme. The actress revealed that her daughter, Apple, 21, had a positive reaction, while her son, Moses, 19, felt a bit overwhelmed.
In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Paltrow described her daughter’s reaction: “I mean, my daughter’s so cool and so punk rock that she’s like, ‘Mom, this is awesome!’” In contrast, her son’s reaction was less favorable. “He was kind of mortified,” Paltrow recounted.
Last October, pictures of the pair—53-year-old Paltrow and 29-year-old Chalamet—kissing amidst Central Park quickly went viral, igniting widespread commentary across social media platforms. The images showed them locked in an embrace while dressed in costume, capturing a seemingly intimate moment.
Despite the initial surprise, Paltrow believes her children are excited to see the film now that they have matured. “But I do think they’re actually excited to see this film because now they’re grown up and they can make this separation,” she noted.
Paltrow humorously acknowledged that her son might be unsettled during more intimate scenes. “I’m sure they’ll gag when I’m having a make-out scene, of course,” she said. Historically, her children have preferred her in the role of “Mom” rather than as a public figure, expressing reluctance to engage with her celebrity persona.
The viral incident led to a flurry of reactions from her social circles, particularly her “mom group texts.” During a November appearance on The Tonight Show, she revealed how frantic those conversations became once the photos were released. “All my mom group texts were like, ‘Oh my God!’ They were on fire,” she said.
In a light-hearted moment on the show, Paltrow remarked, “Yeah, that was bad,” while Jimmy Fallon showcased a photo of the on-screen kiss. She added that the unexpected exposure disrupted what was meant to be a private scene, further complicating an already challenging filming environment.
The actress shares her two children, Apple and Moses, with ex-husband Chris Martin.
