Ketchup Teams Up with ‘Rolling Loud’ for Comedy and Music Fun Featuring Owen Wilson and Matt Rife
Ketchup Entertainment Acquires Domestic Distribution Rights for ‘Rolling Loud’ Film
Ketchup Entertainment has secured domestic distribution rights to the upcoming film Rolling Loud, featuring Owen Wilson and Matt Rife. This comedy, scripted and directed by Jeremy Garelick, unfolds against the backdrop of the World’s Largest Hip-Hop Festival. The project is produced by Live Nation Studios and American High in partnership with Rolling Loud.
Scheduled for release on September 18 in over 2,000 theaters, Rolling Loud combines music, humor, and the grandeur of festival culture. The collaboration with Live Nation enhances the film’s ability to authentically portray the vibrancy of the festival atmosphere.
The film boasts appearances from notable hip-hop artists including Ty Dolla $ign, Sexyy Red, and Ski Mask The Slump God, alongside a supporting cast featuring Christine Ko, Christian Convery, Jolene, and Henry Winkler.
Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment, praised the project, stating, “Rolling Loud is a bold, unapologetic comedy with real cultural credibility. Live Nation Studios brings unmatched access and authenticity to the project, and we see this as a true event-driven theatrical release that connects music culture and cinema.”
Ryan Kroft, Head of Film & TV at Live Nation Studios, echoed this sentiment, noting, “Live music and festivals are one of the most powerful cultural engines of our time — creating connection, energy, and memories. With Rolling Loud, Live Nation Studios brings that live-music pulse infused with comedy off the stage and into cinemas. We’re happy to partner with Ketchup Entertainment to share this story with audiences across the nation.”
Matt Zingler, co-founder of Rolling Loud, described the film as “a celebration of the community, creativity, and unpredictability that defines the festival experience.”
The inspiration for the storyline emerged from Garelick’s own experience of briefly losing track of his son at a music festival, an event he characterized as filled with anxiety, fear, and absurdity. “This became a great party story and now a fun, ridiculous comedy,” he explained. Garelick’s previous work includes notable films such as The Break-Up, The Hangover, and Murder Mystery 2.
The film is supported by Executive Producers Ryan Kroft and Michael Rapino for Live Nation Studios, Pasquale Rotella of Insomniac, and Matt Zingler of Rolling Loud. Producers include Jeremy Garelick and Will Phelps for American High, along with Doug Banker and Stella Bulochnikov. Matt Rife and Christina Shams are also serving as Executive Producers, while casting executives Mary Vernieu and Findley Davidson represent Betty Mae, Inc.
