Magnitude 3.5 Earthquake Strikes Near Johannesburg in Kern County
A preliminary magnitude 3.5 earthquake was recorded at 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday in the Johannesburg area of Kern County, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The earthquake’s epicenter was situated approximately 25.1 miles south-southeast of Ridgecrest, 37.3 miles northwest of Barstow, and 58.2 miles northeast of Lancaster.
Despite the tremor, no immediate reports indicated that residents in the area felt the earthquake. Additionally, there were no reports of damage or injuries resulting from the event.
The USGS continues to monitor seismic activity in the region.
