Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes Call It Quits Again Just 5 Weeks After Reuniting

Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes have parted ways once again, just five weeks after their reconciliation around the New Year.
The breakup was first reported by TMZ and subsequently confirmed by People on Sunday, February 9. Rumors of a split had already emerged after Ballerini removed photos of Stokes from her Instagram account and unfollowed him.
Billboard has reached out to representatives for both artists for further comment.
The couple has navigated a tumultuous relationship in recent months. After a three-year relationship, a representative confirmed to Billboard in September 2023 that the pair had split, despite Stokes sharing a heartfelt birthday tribute to Ballerini just days prior.
On New Year’s Eve, Ballerini and Stokes announced they had reconciled, with Stokes posting pictures of the two together on Instagram. He reflected on the lessons of the past year, stating, “Something I’ve learned this year: don’t take advantage of the most beautiful things that in 33 years of life are fleeting. Take accountability, learn from mistakes. Lean into love and say it often.”
In a now-deleted post, Ballerini expressed her feelings, saying, “Messy year for the heart, messy year for the outside coming in, messy year for the way it became an out of our hands portrayal of it. But what I’ll say, and all I really care to share indefinitely with my personal life anymore, is that I really love love. I believe in it, I believe in him, and I believe in breaking patterns.”
The second breakup has shocked fans, especially as Ballerini recently spoke affectionately about Stokes on the Grammy Awards red carpet, just a week before their split. During the event on February 1, she told Entertainment Tonight, “I love love, and I believe in it, and I also believe so much in, like, finding the things that make you happy and finding the things that you want to work on and figuring out when the rubber meets the road, how to make that work.”
She added, “It looked a lot more dramatic than it was, and that was quite the learning lesson for us. But I love him so much. We’ve been together for quite a while now and done a lot of life together.”
Ballerini last released music in November 2025, when her EP Mount Pleasant debuted at No. 68 on the Billboard 200, marking her eighth entry on the chart.
