Kelly Hornsby, Acquisitions Leader at Hearst Networks EMEA, Steps Down After 12 Years
EXCLUSIVE: Hearst Networks EMEA is experiencing another senior departure as Kelly Hornsby exits her role. Hornsby’s departure marks the second significant exit from the team this year, following the departure of Dan Korn, a pivotal figure in commissioning true crime programming for Sky History and Crime+Investigation.
Her exit has been described by industry insiders as a “big loss,” particularly by those who frequently collaborated with both Korn and Hornsby. Sources indicate that neither will be replaced. Hearst Networks has not responded to multiple requests for comment regarding Hornsby’s departure.

Joining Hearst in 2013 as Acquisitions and Commissioning Editor, Hornsby advanced to the position of Head of Programme Acquisitions in 2018. Her recent credits include Junk & Disorderly, British X-Files, and Gold Wars Downunder. Prior to this, she served as a buyer for Channel 5, owned by Paramount.

In a LinkedIn announcement, Hornsby reflected on her nearly 13 years at Hearst Networks, stating, “After almost 13 years, my time at Hearst Networks EMEA as Head of Programme Acquisitions has come to an end, and it’s time for a new adventure. I’ve been incredibly lucky to work with some truly talented and brilliant people along the way. We’ve achieved great things and delivered content to be proud of. I’ve built strong relationships and I’m grateful that so many of you have become not only trusted colleagues and partners, but also good friends.”
She further expressed optimism for the future, noting, “As this chapter comes to a close, I’m feeling positive and excited about what’s next. I’m open to new opportunities where I can put my experience and love of great content to good use.”
Hornsby’s exit follows that of Dan Korn, announced two weeks earlier, whose work included notable credits such as Royal Bastards: Rise of the Tudors and Royal Kill List.
Recently rebranded from A+E Networks EMEA, Hearst Networks is led by Dean Possenniskie, with Heather Jones serving as Chief Creative Officer and UK lead. The organization has recently shared plans for a landmark documentary, World War II with Tom Hanks, set to broadcast across EMEA.
