Keir Starmer’s Eurovision Party Gets Surprised by Labour Leadership Hopefuls on SNL UK Cold Open
SNL UK opened its latest episode with a striking commentary on the current political instability in the UK.
As Prime Minister Keir Starmer grapples with rebellion and calls for resignation from within his party, Sky’s comedy series depicted aspirants storming 10 Downing Street.
Wes Streeting (played by Jack Shep), Andy Burnham (Paddy Young), and Angela Rayner (Celeste Dring), humorously laid claim to the Prime Minister’s office, while Annabel Marlow’s portrayal of Liz Truss made an unexpected entrance from a cupboard, demanding “another chance.”
The impromptu takeover interrupted Starmer (George Fouracres) as he attempted to enjoy Eurovision, which aired simultaneously on BBC One. “It’s the one show I enjoy,” Starmer lamented.
The Season 1 finale of Saturday Night Live UK was hosted by Sex Education and Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa, who took the helm from last week’s guest presenter Hannah Waddingham. Gatwa humorously remarked, “I don’t understand it either” as he made his transition into Billie Piper in his final episode of Doctor Who.
