KATSEYE Expresses Hope for Collaboration with Inspirational A-List Pop Star

The girl group KATSEYE envisions a collaboration with pop star Charli XCX, describing it as potentially “gnarly” and perhaps even a bit “brat.”
In a recent interview with People, published on January 7, the members of KATSEYE revealed that Charli XCX, who co-wrote their Billboard Hot 100 hit “Gabriela,” is a “definitely” desired collaborator. “I just recently met her, and I think we all really hope to work with her more in the future,” said Manon Bannerman.
Bannerman expressed admiration for Charli, saying, “She’s definitely a KATSEYE girlie, and we’re in love with Brat and everything about her. She’s such an inspiration to us. We don’t know what the future holds, but we’re definitely, definitely super into that idea.”
The discussion comes shortly after KATSEYE received their first Grammy nomination, competing in the best new artist category against artists like Addison Rae and Lola Young.
As the group gains popularity through songs like “Gabriela” and “Gnarly,” they have also faced backlash. In an interview with BBC News, member Lara Raj shared, “If 1,000 people are, like, sending you death threats, it’s jarring.” Sophia Laforteza added, “We know it’s a part of fame. But it doesn’t change the fact that we are human.”
Despite these challenges, the band has found support within the industry. Raj recounted advice from Kehlani, who recently reached out to her. “She’s someone I really, really look up to,” Raj said, noting the importance of staying grounded. “She gave a lot of advice about pushing through. A lot of artists that we look up to have advised us to really stay in the present and enjoy real life,” she continued.
Meanwhile, Charli XCX is preparing for the release of her companion album for the film adaptation of Wuthering Heights, which features Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. Two singles, “House” and “Chains of Love,” have already been released from the project.
