- Kate Hudson received her second Oscar nomination on Thursday, January 22, alongside her mother Goldie Hawn.
- Both actresses are now two-time Oscar nominees; Hawn won Best Supporting Actress in 1970 and was nominated for Best Actress in 1981.

Kate Hudson celebrated her second Academy Award nomination on January 22, a milestone marked by the presence of her mother, Goldie Hawn, and other family members. The 46-year-old actress was nominated for Best Actress in the 2026 Oscars for her performance in Song Sung Blue, a film where she stars alongside Jessie Buckley, Rose Byrne, Renate Reinsve, and Emma Stone.
In a heartfelt Instagram post that day, Hudson expressed her joy, sharing a photo of herself embracing Hawn, who is 80. “What a beautiful morning,” she captioned the image.
Hudson also included a video of herself FaceTiming with her family in which she exclaimed, “Oh my God, you guys! Oh my God, I’m so happy!”
This isn’t Hudson’s first Oscar nod; she was previously nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Penny Lane in the 2000 film Almost Famous. At the 2001 Oscars, however, that award went to Marcia Gay Harden for her performance in Pollock.
On the same day, Goldie Hawn took to her own Instagram account to congratulate her daughter. “Oh, my baby, my baby, my baby girl! I love you as big as the universe,” she wrote. “Congratulations, sweetheart. Once upon a time, I had a little girl named Kate! And look at her now! Yay!” Hawn herself won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 1970 for her role in Cactus Flower.
In Song Sung Blue, Hudson portrays Claire Stengl, performing alongside Hugh Jackman, who plays Mike Sardina, in a tribute band named Lightning & Thunder. The film is based on the true story of a Milwaukee couple, Mike and Claire Sardina. Hudson has received further recognition with nominations at the Golden Globe Awards on January 11 and will also be honored at the upcoming 2026 Actor Awards.
