Emotional Confessions from Kate Hudson
In a recent interview, actress Kate Hudson opened up about her emotional side, revealing she often finds herself in tears. The Golden Globe-nominated star, who plays a leading role in the musical biopic Song Sung Blue, shared that she cries "every day" while discussing the film.
“I cry every day ‘cause every time Hugh and I start talking about the movie, we get so emotional,” Hudson remarked, referring to her co-star Hugh Jackman. The film is inspired by the real-life tribute band Lightning & Thunder, which pays homage to Neil Diamond.
Hudson described herself as "an easy crier," admitting that even an emotional social media post could prompt tears. “I think I probably cry at least once every other day,” she added. “Crying is always a good thing. It really is.”

Family plays a significant role in Hudson’s emotional openness. “We’re all criers," she mentioned when discussing her family dynamics, noting that her mother Goldie Hawn and brother Oliver Hudson share this trait. “Our whole family, everybody but maybe Pa [Kurt Russell] and Wyatt,” she observed, highlighting their emotional nature.
Song Sung Blue explores the romantic and musical journey of Claire, played by Hudson, and Mike Sardinia, portrayed by Jackman, as they form their tribute band in 1989.

During a conversation at the 2025 Gotham Awards, Hudson and Jackman praised each other’s talent. “His superpower is to connect, whether it’s onstage, whether it’s on set,” she said, emphasizing Jackman’s ability to foster happiness around him. Jackman reciprocated, stating, “Being with her … I think I became a better actor.”
As the award season approaches, Hudson has received a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture for a Musical or Comedy at the upcoming Golden Globe Awards on January 11.
Song Sung Blue is currently playing in theaters.
