Jordana Brewster Reflects on Her Best Moments from ‘Fast & Furious,’ Shares Support for Meadow Walker, and Talks About Filming ‘Fast Forever’ in LA at Cannes Studio
Jordana Brewster Reflects on 25 Years of Fast & Furious at Cannes Screening
Jordana Brewster marked the 25th anniversary of Fast & Furious with a heartfelt screening at the Cannes Film Festival, an occasion tinged with nostalgia due to the absence of Paul Walker, who portrayed Brian O’Conner. Walker passed away in 2013, leaving a lasting impact on the franchise and its fans.
During the screening, Walker’s daughter, Meadow, joined Brewster and other cast members. “Meadow was next to me, and I felt very protective of her, so it was very bittersweet,” Brewster recalled. “But I think it’s important that he’s always present somehow.”
Reflecting on her experiences in the franchise, Brewster recounted a memorable moment from filming in Puerto Rico, where an injury didn’t deter her commitment. “I tore my hand open, but I knew that Paul was such a badass with stunts, and he would do everything himself, so I was like, ‘I need to keep it together, and I’m not getting stitches until we’re done with this scene.’ So I kind of earned my stripes.” When asked if the male cast members were impressed by her resilience, she replied, “Paul was. That’s all that mattered.”
Looking ahead, Brewster expressed excitement for the upcoming film, Fast Forever, slated for release in 2028. She hopes it will include elements reminiscent of the original, stating, “I really love the first one, and I really love the fifth one.”
Brewster shared her preference for practical stunts over special effects, stating, “The stunts are very practical. There’s less special effects; it’s just less grand. I think that’s what the audience is drawn to, and I kind of think that’s what we owe our fans.” She has not yet seen the script for the new film but is eager to read it.
Additionally, she advocates for filming in Los Angeles again, underscoring the city’s significance in the franchise. “LA was a character in the first one, and again, it’s going back to all the different cultures within LA,” she noted.
As fans reflect on the legacy of Fast & Furious, Brewster’s sentiments resonate deeply, bridging the gap between nostalgia and anticipation for the franchise’s future.
