Jonathan Nolan Shares His Thoughts on Christopher’s Remarkable Film ‘The Odyssey’
As cinephiles anticipate the highly awaited film The Odyssey, director and producer Jonathan Nolan has shared his enthusiastic early review.
The writer and director Christopher Nolan’s brother, who serves as a director and executive producer on Fallout, lauded the upcoming adaptation of Homer’s epic as a “spectacular film” ahead of its premiere on July 17 in IMAX.
“I’m not working on The Odyssey. I have seen The Odyssey,” Jonathan Nolan told CinemaBlend. “It’s tremendous. It’s an incredible achievement… I was fascinated by the Iliad and The Odyssey when I was younger, and I had some fun conversations with Chris about where he’s taking it. It’s a spectacular film.”
Christopher Nolan, who left Warner Bros. after directing his 12th film, Oppenheimer (2023), which won seven Oscars and grossed over $975 million worldwide, announced that The Odyssey will be his next collaboration with Universal Pictures, set for December 2024.

In an interview with Empire, Nolan expressed his vision, stating, “As a filmmaker, you’re looking for gaps in cinematic culture, things that haven’t been done before. And what I saw is that all of this great mythological cinematic work that I had grown up with—Ray Harryhausen movies and other things—I’d never seen that done with the sort of weight and credibility that an A-budget and a big Hollywood, IMAX production could do.”
