Jonathan Majors Returns to Film with New Action Movie Shoot in South Carolina
EXCLUSIVE: Actor Jonathan Majors, known for his roles in Creed III and Ant-Man, is filming his first movie in four years. The untitled action film, produced by The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend, is currently in production in South Carolina.
Directed by Kyle Rankin, who also penned the screenplay, specific details about the film—such as its title, plot, and additional cast—remain undisclosed. However, early descriptions suggest it draws inspiration from classic ’80s and ’90s action films such as Red Dawn and Toy Soldiers, focusing on groups of teenage boys uniting against invading forces.
Producing the project are Ben Shapiro (The Ben Shapiro Show) and Dallas Sonnier (Bone Tomahawk) for their respective companies, alongside Travis Mills (Frontier Crucible), Lillian Campbell (The Pendragon Cycle), and Sydney Aucreman (Terror On The Prairie).

Majors’ career has experienced significant ups and downs, marked by notable performances in films like The Last Black Man in San Francisco and series such as HBO’s Lovecraft Country. However, following his conviction in 2023 for assaulting a former girlfriend, the actor faced a series of professional setbacks. He is now working to rebuild his career, with plans to star in the supernatural revenge thriller Merciless directed by Martin Villeneuve, which was first announced in summer 2024.
The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend have been proactive in offering opportunities to actors who have faced cancellations. Known for their recent success with the TV series The Pendragon Cycle, these companies previously cast Armie Hammer and Gina Carano, who had been dropped from The Mandalorian, in comeback roles.
Executive producers for the new film include Caleb Robinson and Mike Richards from The Daily Wire, along with Majors for Tall Street Productions and Jason Ramos (Landman).
Behind the scenes, Kristopher Kimlin (Young Washington) is set to serve as cinematographer, while David Guglielmo (The Standoff At Sparrow Creek) will oversee casting. Additional team members include production designer Vincent Reynaud (Kandahar) and costume designer Emma Fleming (The Last Stop In Yuma County).
This film marks a reunion between The Daily Wire, Bonfire Legend, and director Rankin, who previously directed their 2020 film Run Hide Fight, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
Majors is represented by WME and Fox Rothschild, while Rankin is represented by UTA, Greenlit Management, and attorney Stephen Clark.
